Notion Ink is making a break through with their latest tablet, the Notion Ink Adam. This device’s standout feature is its beautiful design. It is compact and features a gorgeous 10 inch display screen. A few unique features are also available on this device such as a rotating camera and the Nvidia Tegra 2 processor.
One of our favorite features available on this device is the 3.2MP (megapixel) camera. This image capturing device is different than others because it is designed with a swivel. The camera can swivel around to make it easy to take photos in any direction.
The Notion Ink Adam also comes with an accelerometer which allows the display screen to change from landscape to portrait mode, or vice versa, by rotating the device. This device features a GPS and a digital compass.
Portability & Design
The Notion Ink Adam features the Nvidia Tegra 2 processor. This processor features a dual-core CPU that provides up to two times faster web browsing and five times faster gaming. This processor is ideal for the entertainment features available on the device and makes the tablet ideal for gaming, taking photos, viewing videos and other features requiring high-quality images.
Several audio features are included on the device such as built-in stereo speakers, a built-in microphone and a 3.5mm headphone jack. A 2.0 USB port, a mini USB port and an SD media slot is also located on the exterior of the tablet.
We were also impressed with the high amount of battery life provided on the tablet. Up to 15 hours of life is offered on the tablet. Notion Ink claims it is due to the Pixel Qi display screen which saves a vast amount of power. Although, like all tablet devices, the amount of battery life consumed depends on the type of programs used.
The Notion Ink Adam is designed with Pixel Qi touch screen technology. This technology is designed to be readable in direct sunlight and we weren’t disappointed. It also responded well to our touch and we didn’t have the problem with slow response time and long pauses between programs. The Pixel Qi display also is designed to save on power and saves you a significant amount of battery life.
A 10-inch display screen is featured on the device which makes viewing data and images easy. Two keyboard designs are available; both with multitouch capabilities. The unique feature in regards to these keyboard designs is the lines and spaces are deleted between each key. Notion Ink claims that deleting the space between keys increases the user’s correct typing. At first we found it a little strange to type on these keyboards, but we eventually grew accustomed to these designs.
The overall design of the Notion Ink Adam is impressive. It is a sleek and very handsome design. With a weight of 1.6 pounds, the tablet is easy to hold and lightweight. We found no problem holding the device for extended periods of time and the device felt more like a book to hold.
The user interface was fairly easy to use. It took a little time to get use to the way things were laid out and menus were organized. However, once we figured out the design of the menus and how the navigation of the device is set-up, we found the Notion Ink Adam to be highly efficient and enjoyable to use. Also, we found the controls were in locations that were easy to find.
With a 10-inch display screen, responsive touch screen, swivel camera and strong processor, the Notion Ink Adam is a durable tablet that provides its users with efficiency and navigation. Though, it lacks its own application store and the ability to download several application specifically for the device, it provides enough features to give users an overall enjoyable experience.
